NØRN Aurora is an outstanding Caribbean Rum Finish Blended Malt Scotch conceived by our Master Distiller, Ian Millar. We procured quality eight-year-old premium Speyside single malts, matured in fine oak casks. These were shipped to our distillery at 60° North. There, in the cool northern climate, the malts were masterfully married. The golden spirit was then further matured for an additional 6 months in oak casks that had been richly infused with Caribbean Rum, imparting layers of depth, warmth, and subtle exotic sweetness.

Aurora was heavily inspired by Shetland's seafaring legacy. For centuries Shetland was considered 'the edge of the world', a haven for traders and smugglers who braved the Atlantic en route to the West Indies and other exotic lands, many of those ships delivering to Shetland spirits such as Rum, to this day still a popular tipple on the island.

This whisky is a tribute to that history, a blend of hardy Scots/Shetland character and tropical intrigue.

Master Distiller's notes

"Creating Aurora has been an inspiring process. Beginning with two exquisite malts, the blending was a meticulous endeavour — balancing their individual characters into a harmonious whole. The finishing process introduced two distinctive elements: the influence of rum-infused oak casks, and the maturation in Shetland's cool, sea-swept climate. The result is a whisky of remarkable complexity and elegance - a truly experiential dram."

Nose

With such complexity, it makes an enigmatic first impression. Mellow vanilla, enhanced by the rich toffee and spiciness of the Caribbean.

Palate

A well rounded warmth, with subtle creaminess and sugary sweetness. It is delicately rich.

Finish

There are lingering tropical notes, of spice infused with mango, pineapple and coconut. A just a hint of caramel that stays on the tongue.
